Daniel Mallard is a senior forward from Greensboro, N.C. Daniel has served as a three-year starter and part of the leadership team. Coming into his senior season, Daniel is the CIU career leader in goals with 32. During his sophomore season, Daniel led the team with 20 goals and five assists, finishing second nationally in goals. “Mallard” as he is known by his teammates, also holds the distinction of being the first player to sign with the Rams prior to the inaugural season. He also scored the first goal in program history on a diving header as the Rams won their inaugural match 1-0 against Toccoa Falls College.
Daniel has a passion for using soccer to share the Gospel and minister to others. For the past two summers, Daniel has been part of the Chicago Eagles Summer Academy, a two-month long soccer missions and discipleship experience. As part of that experience, he traveled to Brazil for a soccer ministry trip and conducted soccer camps in the Chicago area. Daniel has also traveled on six other soccer mission trips with the Charlotte Eagles professional soccer organization. In high school, Daniel played for one of the top high school programs in the country at Wesleyan Academy where he served as team captain as a senior and won the NCISAA 3A State Championship.
Coach Whitaker commented about Mallard: “Daniel has been a HUGE part of building our program and has made a big impact on and off the field. Daniel has a huge heart to use soccer as a platform to impact others beyond just winning and losing. I’m excited to see how God continues to use him in the future, and we’re looking for a huge final season from him this fall.”
