Emory is in his first semester at Columbia International after transferring from Hagerstown Community College. He has already made a mark in just a few weeks. In the season-opening 5K on campus, he made up serious ground in the last half-mile, improving his position from outside the top ten all
the way to sixth place.
Emory was inspirational in the athlete-led chapel, speaking of his summer ministry experiences with enthusiasm and humor.
In addition to his love for running--and he does love it, as evidenced by rounding out last week's practices with a 14-mile run with Coach Brooker and teammate Scott Swier--the former high school three-sport athlete enjoys long bike rides and the Newsboys.
"He has really worked hard and been one of the rocks for our team in his first few weeks on campus," Brooker said. "I'm super excited to see what God has in store for him the rest of the year!"
